This is music for an action movie trailer that has to go through quite a lot of emotional content, from a love story to tension, to big huge combat scenes. The trailer had a ton of dialog, so it took a lot of very careful planning to fit melodic lines in between the dialog. Enjoy!
This piece of music was written for Wwise implementation using branching. There are three sections: explore, tension, and combat. In the explore and tension sections, each phrase was written to be in random order to try to keep repetition down, so it’s a little strange to hear it linearly like this, but it still works. […]
This was written for a space station 3rd person shooter, where you as the character are trying to escape by killing robots and hacking terminals. I wanted to avoid the tyranny of repetition that can happen in games while also respecting the memory allocation for music. This music is the culmination of a 2 layer […]
This was written for a game about a zombie attack. This is the combat music. It’s sort of a 12 tone composition that I forced into a key to give it enough of a “home” for people to be able to listen to. Tension, tension, and more tension was the goal
My hero! This is a theme for a hero character in a game. Tried to give it an appropriately heroic atmosphere. This hero in particular has a time based power, so there is a little mechanical watch track running in the background if you listen closely. This hero also dies and is brought back to […]
This theme is for a side character that is a clever mechanic. The percussion track is anvils, ratchets, a vacuum cleaner, and the sound of my furnace dying, because I wanted to emphasize the mechanical nature of the character!
This piece could be used in a film or game in a dark, mysterious scene with a little tension. I was inspired by the Myst 3 soundtrack, where the loops are incredibly long and multi-layered: measured in minutes, not in bars. I love the darkness that soundtrack has. Mostly layered metals here creating the texture […]
This is a twisty melody to be used in a fantasy film. I’ve been working on this orchestration for a long time. I chose to limit myself to a string section, a few woodwinds, and only trumpets for brass. It was an interesting challenge figuring out how to make this small of a group sound […]
