Okay, to continue the idea of the last post, we’re going to superimpose pentatonic major scales over a minor chord/key to make dorian. First of all, what is the sound of dorian? The best pop tune example is Oye Como Va. You get a minor one chord, and a major four chord. Another example is […]
Whenever I get asked what I’m working on, I always stumble around over words, because I never have anything recent up. So here are some tracks and beats I’m currently working on. I also have an EDM release coming out on February 5th from Beat Cutterz!
This is a hip hop release that I was the lead producer on last year. I also mixed and mastered the EP. Artist is Alonzo from Florida. I wanted to wait a while until the release had been out for a while to give the label a chance to have some album sales before putting […]

The hi hat and squeaks make a countermelody to the destroyed saxophone sound that I design. The form of the song is traditional big room progressive house, which makes me laugh a little, considering how […]
I’m experimenting with new vs old writing techniques. I have a traditional classical and jazz background, but now I mostly produce beats for a hip hop label and tracks for an EDM label. This is a funky odd meter beat with a modern synth meets traditional orchestral brass and strings.
This is a remix of Take Me To Church by Hozier for promotional purposes only. This song changes meter, and it was fun to figure out how to do a dubstep beat for the verses, which are in 3, without making it an obvious waltz feel. Hope you enjoy, and as always please like and […]
This piece was written for a pole dancing competition (yes, apparently that’s a thing). The request was for “classical strings with dubstep,” and I think I did a pretty good job of integrating the strings with the glitches.
Today I’ve been thinking about the major pentatonic scale. It’s a scale that players in most styles of music know. If you don’t know the sound, think the bass line from “My Girl.” Most people approach this scale as root based to the key they’re in. For example, the song is in C major, you […]
